For years, pumpkin picking on Sauvie Island has been a Portland tradition. October is a great time to visit the island farms, where along with getting some large orange fruits, a variety other fruits, veggies, and local goods are still available at each farmers' market. Autumn activites on the farms include hay rides and haunted corn field maizes. Does anyone remember Childeren of the Corn? Scary!
