{the} Portraits

I've been having the itch lately to shoot portraits.  I'm not talking about hokey setups where everybody smiles and says cheese in front of a beautiful sunset, but rather a little more on the darker side with some conceptual thinking as to what will appear in the composition with my subjects.

Over the last couple of weeks I managed to organize a few of my thoughts and captured some nice images of people I've been wanting to shoot for a bit.  What started with a session featuring my wife, her old wedding dress and a chicken, has turned into a style of portraiture that I'm excited to continue working with.  This is little different for me as I'm usually taking pictures on the fly at wedding events, but I'm loving the new challenge and can't wait for more casual sessions.  A few concepts with families in my neighborhood are already in the works and there are definitely some colorful people in my hood.  This series could turn into something unique, stay tuned!

For all of you bold brides and grooms out there, this style of picture can be caught on your wedding day and I'm open to any and all ideas...  Think outside the box!
