Are You DTF?Listen you filthy pigs, in the custom apparel world, DTF does not mean what you think it means. Direct to Film, or more commonly known to our production crew as DTF, is a game-changing printing technique that allows us printers to give you more options in producing custom apparel. Direct to Film is a process in which artwork is printed directly onto a piece of film, with various colored inks. The pre-printed film is then bound to the garment through heat and pressure from a heat-press machine. It's a simple process really, and that's one reason why we love it... To learn more about why we love to rock the direct to film process daily, scroll down past the picture of the GOAT and check out some more points on the topic. We're running Direct to Film projects every day... Are you DTF? Email artwork, logos, and ideas to [email protected]
In addition to Direct to Film printing, we offer these additional services:

6 REASON WHY WE LOVE DIRECT TO FILM 1. Usable on a Wide Variety of MaterialsWhile direct to garment printing works best on 100% cotton, DTF works on many different garment materials: cotton, nylon, treated leather, polyester, 50/50 blends, and both light and dark fabrics. The transfers can also be applied to different types of surfaces like luggage, shoes, glass, wood, and metal! 2. No Pretreatment NeededIf you have already ordered apparel using a Direct to Garment (DTG) printer, you're probably familiar with the pretreatment process. The hot melt powder that is applied to the DTF transfers, bonds the print directly to the material. This means that no pretreatment is needed, saving time and money. 3. Use Less White InkDTF requires less white ink – about 40% white versus 200% white for DTG printing. White ink tends to be the most expensive since more of it is used, so reducing the amount of white ink used for your prints can be quite a money saver for both our business and you the consumer. 4. More durable than DTG printsDTG prints definitely have soft, barely-there hand feel because the ink is applied directly to the garment. While DTF prints don’t have the same soft hand feel that DTG can boast, the transfers are more durable. Direct to film transfers wash well, and are flexible – meaning they won’t crack or peel, making them great for heavy-use items. 5. Easy ApplicationPrinting onto a film transfer means you can place your design on hard-to-reach or awkward surfaces. If the area can be heated, you can can apply a DTF design to it! 6. Faster Production TimesOur goal at noremaC Studios and The Athletic Shop is to turn and deliver custom items in less than two weeks. Since one can eliminate the step of pretreating and drying a garment, production time with DTF is cut down significantly. That’s great news for one-off or small-volume orders that most custom apparel businesses shy away from. Not us! We're proudly handling all projects large and small. So let us ask again... are you DTF? Email logos, artwork, or project ideas to [email protected]
