Laz's crew - Hogs and Heifers Saloon USAWhile I was finishing up my last photo project with Hogs and Heifers in Las Vegas, I was introduced to Alex. She was in town all the way from Jersey visiting Vegas and the West for the first time. Alex is a friend of Michelle's from Back East and had a gift for the Hogs owner. After exchanging some hugs and conversation, it was time for Mich to be officially inducted as a member of "Laz's Crew". Laz? Laz who? And who is his crew? If you're offended by the words pussy and bitch, stop reading, you can't be part of his crew. Laz was a patron from the NY pub and an avid bike rider. In 2014 he also became a friend of the Vegas saloon when he visited during BikeFest. Unfortunately Laz recently passed in October. Alex saw a few photos we had of Laz from BikeFest and told me she was able to share these with him before he passed on. This instantly made me sad, I got the chills, goose bumps up and down my forearms. At the same time, I was also thrilled. It's amazing that he had a chance see some of the pics we took of him during BikeFest. As a photo guy, you rarely get to hear about where your images end up and who could be sharing memories over them. Being introduced to Alex and exchanging stories was awesome and reminded me why I love photography so much... if my photos at Hogs and Heifers could talk? And one of the best things about this Hogs conversation is I knew we had more photos of Laz to share that weren't posted online, this meant Alex could see new pictures of him she didn't know existed. Upon returning to my Portland home base, I was excited to find a handful of images in our growing Hogs collection to share. Raise your next shot to Laz, may his story live on! I'm sure the New York Hogs is up there somewhere... or down there... maybe down there would be more exciting and fitting for a place like H&H?

Michele thanks for posted these pics of Laz they are awesome! Alex you captured the many faces of Laz most intriguingly! He was a man of few words but those words were heard loudly! I was the last true girlfriend of Laz's!!!! We spent 10months together & I had the priveldge of of meeting lots of new people through him!! After all, he had lots n lots of friends!! But when you're a girlfriend you really learn who the man was! And, well let me say no matter where we went he was respected....loved...and Admired! Of course, his size, his stature, His tats n his very loud deep voice .... Was seen n heard!! Children, old people, young teens, well just about everyone was touched by him! Just a tid bit of information!!!! I always called him Joseph!!! His surname n very proud of it!!! Was JOSEPH WILLIAM LAZSLO!!!! HENCE LAZ!! He was very proud of his dad who worked for the Pennsylvania railroad, n adored n loved his mom!! He had a sister, a daughter, n grandchildren who missed out on really getting to know the man he truly was!! He helped many families who called upon him in the middle of the night n wee hours of the mornng to get their children out of Crack/Heroin houses n place them in rehabs!!! He did that with pride n comittment!! Being with him for this short but memorable time was a thrill n exciting !! I was so out of my comfort zone!! Thank to my children!! Riding on the back of his bike with him was exhilarating!! That's where he was Free!! Strong!!! And in total Control!! He truly lived for RIDING!! He is remembered everyday!!! Loved!!! N Missed!! GONE TOO SOON!! Thanks Michele for sharing Alex's pic's!!

Amazing photos as always Cameron! Thank you for sharing them. I shared your post on face book on both the Hogs & Heifers Saloon page and on Hank Dell's page, as well as on the pages of a few of Lazarus's nearest and dearest. I assure you they will get around to many of Laz's family, friends and actual "crew" who will smile and may shed a few tears, but will be so happy in knowing that the impact Laz had is far reaching and lasting and touches all those who knew him in such a deep way that even in the after life, he touches those who never had the chance to know him. The pictures of me and Alex and Jimmy are gems, and that one pic of me and Alex....fucking fabulous! I love you! Michelle
